Immunization Requirements for Children Displaced by Ike

Important information from Texas Department of State Health Services regarding Immunization Requirements for children displaced by IKE.

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has issued this letter of guidance for school entry requirement for children displaced by Ike. A new student has 30 days of provisional enrollment to produce immunization records per Texas law. DSHS will review this requirement and adjust if more time is needed to locate immunization records.

Also, instructions are given on how to find immunization records in ImmTrac as well as the Houston-Harris County Immunization Registry. If you are treating Houston/Galveston area children or enrolling them in your school, please take a moment to read this important communication.

On behalf of the Houston community, we thank you once again for taking good care of our children in the wake of this disaster.
